Our main ideas

These are our main ideas as to what we think should be included in the two minute opening scene, it includes what teen drama's and thrillers we have associated with to get  ideas from and it also includes a rough idea of the plot.

'The Back Up Plan' Film Research - Teen Drama/Comedy

Animated title opening to the film with an animated version of a woman, possibly our main protagonist as she is the first thing we see suggesting she has an important role within the film.

Starting to introduce the names of the cast and the crew again within the animated opening sequence. The baby suggests that the story line will involve a child or pregnancy.

Again, references to babies, she is surrounded by tv screens of an ultra sound like its almost haunting her or following her around.

Another reference to children or toys that she is looking at still ongoing the animated opening.

The last animated scene before we enter the real life. The repetitive mentions to babies is continuously giving us clues to suggest the story line of the film and that it has something to do with her being a mother or pregnant and about to have a child.

Finally, we enter into a close up of a male midwife which then tells us that she is pregnant and she is going to have a baby which will potentially change her life and she will have to take a second route in life emphasising the title of the film 'The Back Up Plan'

She's the Man - Teen Drama/Comedy Film Research

Opened by the producers of the film

cuts to a boy water skiing showing that his interest is water sport

a shot of a girl playing football, supposedly the main character as the comic /animated background makes her stand out, she is playing football which shows her interests

another shot of the boy and the girl kissing showing they are a couple and introduces us to the characters

then finally starts to reveal the names of the actors which an animated picture of what is used to represent them, for example her football is obviously a big part of her film and her life.

Wild Child Film Research - Teen Drama/Comedy

The first shot we see is of the main protagonist waking up from what looks like a good dream or a good sleep, we can see this as she is smiling

the next thing we see is her rushing out of bed suddenly, suggesting she has remembered something important or crucial that she is supposed to be doing

we then see an over the shoulder shot of her looking on her calendar  where there is a  big volcano or explosion suggestion that something big is happening on that day.

Opening Sequence Research

                                                                     LOVE, ROSIE:

For my research, I looked at the film Love, Rosie which is a Constantin Film. The opening sequence
of Love, Rosie starts off with the title of the movie producers name which is 'Constantin Film'.

It goes straight from the title to a shot of the main protagonist, Rosie sitting at a wedding table staring into thin air. This suggests that she is attending someone, or her own wedding which is also why she is dressed nicely, like a bride.
We then hear Rosie's voice inside her head as a monologue saying "take a deep breath and tell it from the beginning, where you first met". We are then introduced to two children who are playing the role of the two main protagonists, Alex and Rosie, when they were younger. She is narrating a story to the audience. This suggests that the two are very close and they have a connection, it makes the audience want to watch on to find out who she is talking about.
Rosie then stands up and begins a speech addressing that this day is one of the 'happiest of her life' however, she is clearly not happy due to her low, sad tone of voice and facial expression. This suggests that maybe she is in an unhappy relationship or she is upset watching some body who she loves get married.
Finally, the screen then goes to flashing lights and there is asynchronist of party music and people screaming and singing and words develop over the screen saying "12 years later, Rosie's 18th birthday (most of which she was too drunk to remember" this suggests that a story explaining how the wedding happened is about to be revealed over the course of the movie and tells the audience that the genre of the movie is a romance or romantic comedy.

                                                         THE HUNGER GAMES:

For the second film I researched I did The Hunger Games Catching Fire. In the opening sequence of The Hunger Games there is the title of the production company which is Lionsgate.
Straight after the production company name has faded off the screen a part of the setting is a revealed, an Ariel shot of the scene is shown and we see that there is a forest that has been snowed on. The dark and gloomy lighting reveals the tone of the film which is action. The sound is also very eerie.

There is then a jump cut to our main protagonist Katniss who is looking across a lake with a bow and arrow. This reveals a lot about the narrative that it is about hunting or fighting as the protagonist has a weapon in her hand.

We then see a close up of the main protagonist again, Katniss of her facial expression. Katniss is very concentrated however, there is a sense of uncertainty in her eyes as she looks slightly confused or worried. This reveals that there is a potential problem or worry on her mind that she has just experienced.

Lastly, Katniss hears a sound of a branch cracking and there is a whip pan of her turning around quickly and bearing her bow and arrow, ready to fire, we are then introduced to our second protagonist. The fact that Katniss turned around extremely quickly suggests that she was in dep concentration and wasn't expecting anybody to turn up, when she sees that it is her friend she is relieved as if she thought it would be someone after her, which againn reveals why she could be agitated.
